Mermaid's Playground

We were extremely pleased with Mermaids Playground House on New Smyrna Beach! It was a last minute booking due to our original Airbnb booking being canceled in the Gulf coast due to the hurricane damages. We quickly looked for a new Airbnb on Florida’s East coast, and stumbled upon this gorgeous home, literal steps from the beach. We loved the privacy of the “2 units” (but still one) being separated slightly as we had multiple families in our group. We watched the sunrise over the ocean every morning, as the beach is less than a stones throw away. The home was having some air conditioning issues when we arrived but the host was very responsive, informative, and accommodating, making sure we were comfortable. I cannot recommend this house/host/company enough! They made our stressful situation (canceled Airbnb on the gulf) go so smoothly, and so enjoyable! We will most definitely be back!!

Perfect beach cottage! This home is great for family with the two story layout. I enjoyed taking the short walk to the beach every morning for sunrise. Also the first floor shower has the best water pressure! Highly recommend staying here.

This was the second time my family stayed in this home within this past year. It suits the needs of our family beautifully with the young adult and teen kids staying in the lower level and the Littles with my husband and me upstairs. We loved our stay at this property. Facility was as described and the location could not have been better. Wish I would have discovered the key to the closet where the beach gear and bikes are stored sooner. The house was super clean and had everything you need for a great beach vacation. The backyard with pool was excellent along with an outdoor Sonos system. The house was equipped with all things you need like beach equipment (chairs, bikes, wagon, toys), kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, smart tvs, and even beach towels. The family had a great stay and being only steps from the beach was a huge plus!

Clean, organized, and filled with EVERYTHING you could need! We appreciated the charging station, lamps with usb plugs, Roku, first aid supplies, aloe, pool cleanliness, beach towels…..everything. Location was also perfect. Our kids have already asked when we can come back and we aren’t even home yet!

We had a great stay at mermaids playground. Very close to the beach/town, was perfect for a brisk walk. Although advertised as no beach towels being provided upon arrival we found that there were beach towels from previous guests, which was a great surprise! Heated pool was awesome, would definitely recommend!

Very clean and spacious 2 story home. The beach walkway is right across the street, but due to trees and other houses there is not a view of the beach. The pool was big and warm and clean. Lots of beach furniture. The listing said no beach towels, but there were many to be found. The house was even nicer and cuter than in the photos. I can’t think of anything negative to report.

Great location near the beach, the house had everything we needed from pool toys, tons of beach towels and toys, cleaning supplies and bedding. The house had a great layout and was perfect for our large group. The teens had the second floor with an outside entrance and their own kitchen and bathroom which worked great with the adults and young kids on the first floor. Highly recommend!!

We are obsessed with this property. Everything about it was so smooth sailing. The guest documents perfectly covered everything we needed to know. The property was beautifully maintained and laid out. Literally steps from the beach which was so beautiful, but also close to restaurants, and not a long drive to Daytona where we met for a church convention every day. Just the most fantastic place we could’ve found. Didn’t want to leave. I will note for any potential visitors that there is a long list of rules that may seem overwhelming when you receive them after booking, but they are ones that just have to do with proper respect as a guest anyway. Honestly we can’t say enough about this place and want to come back next year and rent it again for our yearly church trip.

Even though there are houses nearby, the house has a private feel. Tastefully decorated and easy to clean. Four adult children stayed upstairs and enjoyed their kitchen living room and bedrooms. We had a couple of fun family pool parties that ended well.

Great home with private pool. House was decorated very well. Pillows were a little lumpy, but honestly best beach house we’ve stayed in. Great location. I subtracted a star because of sand at entrance (house cleaner didn’t vacuum), but it’s Florida so who cares.

I could not believe how nice of a stay this house is. With 3 king sized bedrooms everyone had room to have privacy when need be. No one had to share a bedroom or bathroom with any other person staying in my group. And with two full size fully equipped kitchens and a grill outside not only was the feasting excellent but every cheif had their own space. All of this made our stay fell like we was at home. The washer and dryer was a life saver as none of us had packed enough clothes. And the hot water on demand was a great touch as far as I was concered. Not once did anyone in our party ever have a cold shower or have to wait for a shower. But none of this is what made this house the best. The very short walk to the beach was one of my favorite things. I started two of my days here walking along the beach front while the sun came up, what a treat. Another nice touch was the bicycles for the beach, I found myself enjoying the morning one day just riding up the beach. And afterwards taking a shower in the outdoor shower. A first for me but it was great to get all the sweat and sand off. The privacy fence that sorround the heated pool, grill and outdoor entertainment area is nice. We all enjoy swiming and talking under the warm Florida sun in our little private backyard. This house really offeres alot and I will be sure to book it every time I come back to Florida.

The pictures don't do this place justice. We felt so relaxed during our time in New Smyrna because it felt like we were home. The beach is so close, it might as well say "ocean front". The heated pool was great for night swimming. Having access to a grill, bikes, beach wagon to haul the provided beach chairs was a huge plus. I highly recommend staying at this property.

House was as described and our family of 8 adults and 4 kids were very comfortable. House was very clean and working with the management company was very good they are professionals. We loved the bikes and all the beach toys, boogy boards 4 or 5 and the pop up to give us some shade and plenty of chairs. The beach wagon was a nice touch as it made if much easier to get everything to the beach and back. Beach was clean and the waves were the biggest I have ever seen thanks to a hurricane several hundred miles East. New Smyrna is a nice little beach town with a very safe feel to it. Can't wait to get back

This property was updated with amenities that added a nice touch to our stay. Examples included king size beds in 3 bedrooms and bunk beds in the 4th bedroom for the kids; a beautiful pool with pool toys and nice pool furniture; beach accessories such as a canopy, wagon, cooler, and ample beach towels; nice quality bathroom towels; tvs in all the common areas and the bedrooms as well as ample parking. The property was very clean with 2 kitchens stocked with nice accessories and utensils. The beach access is a few yards away. Perfect beach for young toddlers. We would definitely stay again.

We were looking for someplace that was 100 yards from the beach, yet had a pool for some private time, and parking for at least four vehicles. This IS that place. The accommodations are top notch, from the bedding, to the furnishings, right down to the artwork and kitchen accessories, not to mention WIFI and ROKU TV's. This is an up and down double unit, with both spaces nearly identical in layout, with the upper unit having a nice view of the ocean. The beach is literally less than 100 yards from the front door. Normally, we have found that rentals with excellent beach proximity rarely have a pool. This pool area is newly refurbished with excellent seating and entertaining area, perfect for a group of adults, or a family with small children. Lastly, the area doesn't have the same feel as typical crowded beachfront communities. This is less commercialized, with down home, friendly people, and excellent long term restaurants and taverns, who are in it for the long haul. It certainly warrants a repeat performance for us!

There was a heated pool with a great privacy fence and outdoor shower. We walked on the beach daily but also rode bicycles (included with the stay) around town. The beach house was an easy bicycle ride to Flagler Avenue and our favorite, Flagler Tavern. There was more than enough room for us and I will definitely plan a return trip with a larger group. I was most thankful for having all of the necessities provided during the stay as well as the cleanliness of the house. It was easily accessible from the main road and surprisingly quiet and secluded from the front. We saw several people walking and biking close by, but felt like we had a good amount of privacy while being able to access the beach easily. I felt safe and relaxed the entire time. I highly recommend Mermaid's Playground.

This house was awesome! It was 50 steps one way to the beach in the am and about 1 out my back bedroom door to the private heated pool in the evenings - where there were plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas and a BBQ grille. What more could you ask for? It's freshly painted a cheery lime green color, welcoming you when you pull up (also parking for 5). It was cutely decorated and smelled great when we set foot inside. The kitchens are new (yes kitchens - plural - one upstairs and one down). There's plenty of the little things like paper towels, toilet paper, soap, detergent - even dryer sheets, its great if you get in late (which we did). The beach was amazing! And the house is equipped for it. There were like 4 beach cruiser bicycles, boogie boards, small easy-to-carry lawn chairs - almost anything you can think of needing. We were a party of 9 (two families) - and the house provides enough space to be together and get a break from one another. My kids had a great time and protested leaving. Can't blame them. We will definitely visit again. Loved New Smyrna Beach!!

Mermaid's Playground's 2 condos were great for our family gathering of 10. Meeting in Florida from Michigan and Colorado is a little risky in January because of the uncertain weather, so we loved our private heated pool!! As it turned out we had great weather so we also spent a lot of time at the beautiful beach which is right down the hill. Mermaid's Playground was very well furnished with 2 wonderfully stocked kitchens. We especially appreciated the great supply of beach towels. The property managers were great to work with. We all look forward to returning!

Mermaid's Playground was perfect! One house from the beach! Very well furnished. Nicely updated! This would actually be the perfect rental for 2 families sharing a vacation! We will definitely be back!
